Many 60-gallon and 120-gallon propane tanks conform to U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) safety standards and must be re-qualified twelve years from their manufacture date, and every five years thereafter. By law, DOT tanks that are out of date cannot be filled until they are re-qualified.
Not only is Tevis Propane authorized to inspect and re-qualify your DOT propane tank, if you are a Tevis Propane customer, we will notify you before your tank is due for this inspection.
Upon successful inspection, we will stamp the collar with a new Requalification Identification Number (RIN) and submit the necessary data to the DOT on your behalf.
The cost to recertify your DOT tank is $99, and includes a thorough inspection of its surface, valves, and fittings, as well as replacement of any protective caps as needed. (If you lease your tank from Tevis Propane, there is no charge to have it re-qualified.)
