Benefits of Propane
Nothing beats the go-anywhere, do-anything versatility of propane! From whole-house heat, to outdoor living and standby generators, no energy source is as clean and versatile as propane.
The combination of propane’s high BTU content and the efficiency of propane equipment makes propane on of the most economical energy choices. Based on the US Department of Energy, over time propane costs nearly half as much per BTU as electricity.
Propane can be used in more places in your home than any other type of fuel:
Propane was officially classified as an Alternative Green Energy by the Clean Air Act of 1990. Here are some of the reasons why propane has earned its green status:
- Propane appliances produce as much as 60% less CO2 than electric appliances and 40% less CO2 than wood.
- Unlike natural gas, propane contains no methane. The Energy Research Center has concluded that methane is between 20 and 70 times more powerful than CO2 in creating atmospheric warming, and that leaks of natural gas into the atmosphere are significant enough to negate NG’s somewhat lower CO2 emissions.
- Because propane cannot remain in a liquid state outside a pressurized tank, it poses no contamination threat to surrounding soil or water.
